Boyertown Area School District Joins POW-MIA Flag Effort, Says Maloney
April 23, 2025
HARRISBURG - Boyertown Area School District became the second school district in the 130th Legislative District to make the decision to fly the POW-MIA flag at all their buildings, Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) said today.
This collaboration between the Boyertown Area School District and the Berks County Chapter 131 Vietnam Veterans will honor the memories of warriors who have not yet returned home.
“The veterans group approached the school and asked if they would be willing to fly the POW-MIA flag along with the American flag and the school district agreed,” Maloney said. “I provided the flags that will now fly at each of the district’s schools.”
While Maloney sponsored the law requiring PA state buildings and property that fly the U.S. flag to also display the POW-MIA flag, schools are not required to do this.
An uplifting community ceremony was held at Boyertown High School.
